XP Home: USB running at 1.1 Speeds

I recently installed a new ECS Nforce3-A motherboard and did a fresh install of Windows XP Home (no service pack). I installed the drivers for the mobo and then installed Service Pack 2.

The driver installation said that the USB ports would run at 2.0 speeds after I installed SP2. However, I installed SP2, and my USB ports are still transferring at 1.1 speeds. Any ideas on how to fix this? Should a reinstall of the drivers cure this problem?

Do you have the latest Bios?

Yep.

I tried using the latest drivers from ECS with no luck.

So, I installed the latest drivers directly from NVIDIA. I now appear to be running at full USB 2.0 speed.

Answer (I think) in the old days with nforce boards you had to install SP1 before the drivers to get USB2 working (at usb 2 speeds) without jumping thru hoops. if you went from XPsp0? to sp2 thats your issue if you went from XPsp1 to sp2 then I don't know what to tell you.

Go to your Device Manager and Update Drivers for the USB hub. If you let it search automatically it will pull up the correct USB 2.0 drivers.

timswim78, did you go into the BIOS and enable USB 2.0? I went to ECS and looked at the BIOS settings pages for for a Socket 754 nForce3 board, and it has the following setting: Onchip USB (V1.1+V2.0) This item enables users to enable or disable the onchip USB function, setting it to be USB1.1 or USB2.0 compatible. This is in the "Onboard Device" setup area of the BIOS, under Integrated Peripherals.
