Xp/home slow to logoff

My new Win XP home installation has been running fine. However, it has recently begun to take easily 90 seconds in order to go from log off/log off to the screen that says, "Logging off."

Until just a few moments ago, it logged off normally. but now, every UID I've tried takes a similar time to log off. Have I inadvertently changed something?

Hmm. I checked the event viewer to see if that might clue me. Although there's pertinent info there, I don't know what to do with it.

Symbolic Name: EVENT_FAILED_CLASS_HIVE_UNLOAD
Message: Windows cannot unload your classes registry file - it is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded when it is no longer in use.

Explanation
Windows unloads each user's profile and user's section of the registry when the user logs off. This message indicates that Windows could not unload the user's profile because a program was referencing the user's section of the registry. This locked the profile. The registry cannot unload profiles that are locked and in use. When the program that is locking the profile is no longer referencing the registry, the profile will be unloaded.

Anyone have a suggestion? I'm getting tired of waiting 95 seconds everytime I want to change users.
