XP Home, Pro or 64

I will be building an Athlon 64 based system soon and was wondering in your opinions what would be my shartest choice for OS. This machine will be mostly for gaming.

Depends on the games. If you use Punkbuster I believe they have barely just release XP64-bit support so I would be wary of that.

Frankly if you can get it for cheaper, and really don't care about the "extra" XP features, Windows 2000 is still a rather good OS for games. If price is a factor at all.

If it's a single computer you don't expect to share out reasources with, probably home. If you plan on doing some networking, I would vote with pro.

XP Home is the cheapest solution for the average home user who doesn't need or want the extras of XP Pro.

XP Pro 64 isn't mature enough yet with drivers and apps, and there's not really any benefit for the home user to use it.

Windows 2000 is still a good OS, but is near the end of its support cycle and will cost around the same as XP Pro anyway.
