I know the OEM version has no support from MicroSoft available with it. Does this mean that I would not be able to use Windows update?

You will be able to use Microsoft update. What they mean by support is tech support. Windows update will work as well as it always has. ;)

You will be able to use Windows update, you just can't call them up and ask for help if you can't figure out how to do things.

Good luck,

The OEM has support from Microsoft, as well as Windows Update.

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) means that it does not come
in a pretty box to put on a shelf on a sales display at the store.
The content and program is the same, just no Eye-Candy Packaging.
(Yeah, like an extra $ 100 for a box !)

Ummm, no.
If the letters OEM are included in the product identification number, then your product came with your computer. Otherwise, your product was purchased separately

Support Options
If the product was already installed on your computer when you purchased it, contact your computer manufacturer.

If you looked at the link I posted before, you'd see that even if you buy OEM MS software from Newegg, the PID will still include the letters OEM, and when you call Microsoft and give them your PID with the letters OEM, they will charge you for support.

Or you can trust the first customer review on the Newegg page that says "No support through M$ though if you buy the OEM"

Isn't charging for support the norm, tho? If you buy retail you get what - free help in installing it, and then after that it's a $35 charge, right?

With retail products you get 2 incidents and unlimited installation support at no charge.
