New to XP, I just installed quicken on my account (no problems running), then I logged off and log on wifes account...not in program list, when I did find the quicken icon it would not let her run it.....click on it and nothing happens?

How do I give her permissions to run it?

Thanks,
John

you either have to set up a 'runas' shortcut, or grant her administrative permissions on the machine.

I know this will fix it in linux but I don't know in windows. Try to change the permissions on the file. SOmeone with more experience than me will either shoot this down or tell you how.

Thanks guys

"Runas" shortcut?? sorry, not sure how that's done

But I will play around for awhile to see if I can get it

John

create a shortcut from the program to your wife's desktop.
right click, and select 'runas' from the menu
a box will popup asking if you want to run as the current user, or another user
select another user, input the credentials of a user that has permission to run the program (yours) and click ok

if you follow those instructions, you should be able to run this on a limited account. you can either do this all the time, or just grant her administrative permissions on her account.

Well, Thanks for all the help!

Final decision, give her admin rights 🙁((

She loves to download and install junk programs....really didn't wanna give it to her lol
