XP hangs playing Media Player 8 or 9

My Intel D815EEA running XP Pro periodically hangs but always hangs when I attempt to play a CD with Media Player 8 or 9. I recently installed a Dlink 520+ but not convinced this is the problem. Ran msinfo32 and IRQs are OK. Any ideas?
