Can this version boot a new custom built system and/or harddrive from the CD? Or do I still have to install XP thru the 6 floppy's?
 
All legal versions of Windows XP are bootable CDs. They only time you need floppy disks during the install process is if you need to provide third-party SCSI or SATA drivers.
