I have a dell inspiron laptop and just partitioned the drive using partition magic. I then installed xp on the first partition. After installing, xp would boot up and then would freeze. After a force shut down (hold power button), I would restart and scan disk would come up as normal after a force shut down. It would then find 5 or 6 files that had invalid entry points. It would say it fixed the problem, load windows and freeze again.
I then inserted the xp disk once again, loaded the installer, deleted the partion and made it one again. I then had the xp installer create the partition and formatted it again as fat32. After the install, it would still freeze.
