I go to shutdown --> restart and it goes to that blue screen saying saving your settings etc etc. It gets to shuting down your computer and then it freezes. No matter how long you leave it. Only way to turn it off is to pull the power, the front button doesn't work. Extremly annoying. System restore is not an option :)

Thanks

more than likely a driver issue try updating all drivers first

if that doesn't do it try uninstalling the software one at a time reboot after each to see if it was the offender

this could be a hardware problem but more times than not it is software and hard to track down

look in the event viewer in admintools and see if it lists any problems

if your running anti virus software you may have corrupted an install file by not turning it off

try running in safe mode hit the f8 key after reboot see if it shuts down fine there

if all else fails try repairing the os put the xp cd in and choose repair option

hope one of these helps
