I have WinXp box, 98SE box, and Win2k box on smc router. All but the XP work.....that is applications like norton live update, morpheus, msn messenger, etc.
XP is the box i have my Printer connected to. I cant access it from 98SE or Win2k. I have shared the printer from XP and set it up like i would on a 2K box.

I have setup a admin user for printing purposes for 98SE and Win2k. I turned the XP firewall off under properties of my Lan connect under My network places.
Still I can not access printer from my two other boxes and I can not log on to morpheus or msn messenger or norton live update will not take. I cant even consider
starting up my zone alarm. Any suggestions to my delima.

Is your router providing DHCP to the systems? If so, is the XP box setup to obtain the IP address automatically? If so, check it to make sure that it is, indeed, assigned an IP address from the same subnet as the other two systems. Verify that the gateway address is that of the router, and that the DNS entries are correct. In case you don't know how to check that: Go to command prompt and type ipconfig /all and that will give you the detailed info.

Also, are you running identical protocols, in the same order on all systems? If you are using NetBEUI on the 98 and 2K boxes, you'll either need to remove it, or add it to the XP box.

DHCP is running on the router. Yes the 98,XP,Win2k are all running Netbeui for the print services. I can see the XP box from win2k, and 98
but I can not log on for printing. I want to configure my application on XP (morpheus) for being behind a fire wall but I have no Idea what to do. As host should i put the primary IP of the XP box or just the host name. Please help......
