XP encrypted files

I've gone and made a real bonehead mistake. I had a folder that I encrypted in WinXP. Then I did an XP reinstall, but forgot to deencrypt the files first. Now I am denied access. Any recovery ideas or are they just lost?

As the FAQ I wrote says, unless you backed up your encryption key, those files are lost.

The encryption would be typical MIcrosoft (useless 😉) if there was a way to get the data out. Thank Microsoft for doing something right.
