XP: Easy way to sync PC<-->Laptop?

I know it's easy to do so with a palm pilot but I need a way to easily sync my emails and documents on my laptop and pc.. I know how to import settings and such but I want something that automatically syncs not just copies.. In other words, if my laptop has a newer version of a doc I want it copy to the pc, if my pc has newer email I want it to be copied to my outlook.. Any ideas? For some reason the internal windows SYNC option seems to only sync offline webpages or something.. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
