XP Desktop Tipped Sideways

Here's a question for everyone

I work for a Big computer Company, WE get A lot of XP calls

Every so often, I get customers that have hit a certian Keyboard combonation and tipped their Screen SIDEWAYS. She said it happened when her "Stupid brother" (He words not mine) Hit Ctrl-alt Shift..

I know ctrl-shift-Print screen enabled High Contrast.

But I couldn't get it to do it.

Does anyone one know to tip the screenside ways without the use of the Driver set (I.e. Nvids or Radeaons Driver options.)
in Windows XP.

are you sure that she didn't mean to say that the taskbar is dragged alongside the screen, i.e. vertically?

edit: also, does she have a tablet PC? that might be the problem.

=|

I'm betting she accidentally somehow moved her whole taskbar to the left or right side, so now she thinks the screen is sideways. Reorienting the taskbar to the bottom like normal may fix her problem.

i'm going to have to agree with woodchuck 🙂 find out some more info

She says that everything is Sideways Text and everything on everything she opens.

it's tipped sideways.
I see this ALOT at least once or twice a day.

we just load VGA mode and remove the drivers and reboot, and it resets it.

nvidia nview hotkeys?

nope, it's a Buildt in Intel Graphics Extreme Card.

I checked that already and the first message says:

Just checking to make sure that the user didn't us the drivers to do it in the first place 😉.

I don't see what the big freaking deal is.

Just put the whole freaking monitor on it's side.

So what? She has a monitor that's taller then wider, rather the traditional wider then taller.

If she complains about it, just tell her to thank god the stupid thing isn't diagnol and reversed.

😛

Yes, it is an option for the Intel Extreme Graphics. I think it is designed for the tablet PCs. Our previous generation desktops at work had it enabled, so we would mess with people by rotating their desktops. On our current gen, the option is grayed out, so we can't do it any more. I'm not sure what the difference in our environment is that used to allow it but no longer does.

Not sure, but my tablet PC has that feature, so if it somehow can come handy in trying some combonations or something, let me know, and I'll try them out.

Yes, there are intel drivers that allow you to turn the screen - support for those rotating monitors apparently. There are also problems with the screen flipping upside down and STAYING that way if you don't have the proper drivers - in this case Microsoft has a hotfix for the issue.
