Is there a way to make Windows Vista look like XP? I was very happy with XP but my new computer came with Vista and I seem to be only able to simplify it down to Win95 w/ no XP setting. Thanks

Sure - just use Windows Classic. That's what I use in XP - and they are pretty much identical.

He doesn't want it to look like Win9x.

I suppose you could download an XP skin somewhere for Vista but I dunno. Vista looks way better than XP IMO.

Agreed. I almost went back to the XP GUI, but after I while I noticed that Aero is a lot easier on my old eyes.

Really - it is not that different. This is my Vista desktop, and if you remove the gadgets and just get used to the round Vista button instead of the ugly green START button, there's not much difference at all. In Aero, the task bar is translucent - but that is adjustable as well.

Different enough, at least to me. After staring at the harsh lines\colors of the XP GUI for 5-years I was more than happy to see MS lean into a OSX-style organic GUI. Moreover, and I don't extend my experience to encompass anyone else, but I just haven't felt the need to fiddle with Aero. It runs great on my Samsung 225BW and 204B, and is easier on my eyes.
