On the XP desktop icons have under properties the ability to change the compatibility mode. Do you advise to change? Sometimes an XP selection isn't available. What is it really for??
XP's compatibility mode is for those 16-bit Windows programs that will not run in XP. If your program runs correctly then do NOT change it to run in compatibility mode. Compatibility mode is a bit on the buggy side.
Example is I have a 16-bit American Heritage Dictionary & thesaurus. Under Win98/ME compatibility mode I could not copy its text to the clipboard. I turned off compatibilty mode for AHD and I then could copy text to the XP clipboard and then paste it in another program.
Like the old saying is "if it works don't fix it." 😀
