XP Critical Security Update KB886903 will not install! Failed installation!

I was able to install every critical windows update except this one:

[Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB886903)]

which failed while trying to install on my system. I can't seem to figure out a way for it to work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Which SP are you running? That is included in both SP1 and SP2. If you already have them, you also have the update.
Do you have .NET framework installed??? If not... well its for .NET.
DO you have a legal copy?

I am running SP2, I do have .net framework installed, and it is a legal copy of windows. Thanks for the help so far I would appreciate any more you have to offer.

I had a similar issue a while back...but in my case, all of my updates came back unable to download/install! A simple reboot of the machine fixed the issue.
