My computer crashed midway into the installation of SP3. Now it crashes within minutes of starting up. I can only run it in safe mode. I uninstalled the SP3 and that did not help. I tried to uninstall .NET framework updates, but was unable to do so. I tried doing a system restore, but that did not fix anything. I don't know what is wrong with this computer and I don't really know if it is a security issue. All I know is that something is broken.

Would Last Know Good Config fix you. When SP2 would go bad there was usually a infection in the PC (HJT).

There's not a whole lot of info yet on problems installing XP SP3. The biggest problem people run into is not turning off AV's and AS w/active protection/guard when they start installing SP3.

The best way of doing it would be to d/l SP from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downl...56f5110&displaylang=en

Then disconnect from the Net and turn off the AV, AS and programs not needed. Then install SP3.

Here are some reference sites for those who have had problems with installing SP3 -
