Any ideas why "Standby" will not work on my XP Pro system. Activating "Hibernation" has always worked fine - when I go to shutdown, I get the options of Turn Off, Restart or Hibernate. The actual hibernation process works perfectly.
However, if I turn-off hibernation and go to shutdown, I get the options to Turn Off and Restart, but Standby, although visible, is greyed out.
I also notice that in the Power Options > Power Schemes window, "System Standby" is not presented as an option at all, when I know I have seen it as an option on friends' PC's.
I have tried with APM both enabled and disabled, to no avail! Could it be my motherboard? (I've tried with Standby both enabled and disabled in the BIOS). I could understand, perhaps, if Standby worked and Hibernation didn't, as the latter is a more recent development.
It just seems illogical to me that my system hibernates quite happily, but can't deal with Standby!
Any help greatly appreciated.
