XP blocked 98

I installed 98 first then XP and i thought i would pick up like before and have the little menu chooser but it didn't i tried the fdisk /mbr but that didn't work and now i am out of ideas please give me an idea of what i can do????

I thought you were supposed to install XP first since it over-rides the current mbr. You could try editting your boot.ini file.

If you install XP, it should recongnize that there is another Windows OS and give you a choice. If it does not by default go here, My Computer "right click" > Properties "advanced tab"> settings. Here is where you can select your boot options. You can also edit your boot.ini from here...

hmm, did you install XP on to C: by any chance using NTFS??

ok I got to the boot ini file but what should I add. It does not reconize 98 here is what it says

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect"
XP is on D:\ and 98 is on C:\
XP is NTFS
what can I do?

Try adding this line to the bottom of the boot.ini:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(0)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows 98" /fastdetect"
