anyone know a quick way to turn off the intrusive file associations with XP.
I install irfanview and choose all 40 or whatever file image associations.
When you double click the lame fax and picture viewer still comes up. LAME.
One must right click | Open With | Choose Program | and check the box which says
Always use this program to open this type of file

Ok so I do this to like 80 or so associations. Only takes a few hours each time.
Anyone know a registry hack or quick fix to turn off this BigBrother, Daddy-knows-best, we-do-it-all-for-you mentality?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Associations

everyone time you click on a single file is bigbrother being called home? This is ridiculous if true.

also a quick way to turn off the picture cd, music cd, autoplay stuff. anyone know?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\AutoplayHandlers
should I delete this entire key perhaps...any guinea pigs out there?
