xp and santa cruz problem

i installed xp and then installed the santa cruz driver/software 4098 but i am getting no sound...only a hissing scratch when xp boots....not showing any conflict under device manager and this system dual boots with me and the santa cruz is working perfectly unnder that os....any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this?
