XP and online anonymity

Is there any way to hide personally identifiable data about your PC (while on-line). For example XP knows your log on name and system name and in system properties lists your registration number (that really long string of about 20 characters). Can I edit a system file or the registry to hide this or change it to another random number. I have already reformatted and my log on and system name are non identifiable but I can't seem to get to the registration number. (before you ask this is a legal non warez version of windows that I own, I just like being anonymous online)

How about putting in your profile here at anandtech.

lol Kind of spoils the fun.
If anyone really wants to know who you are they will find out. BTW I don't think I would mess with the numbers because you might screw your ability to get updates.
