XP and Network Card Problems

Ok, I just installed XP on my PC yesterday and cannot get the drivers to install for my network card.
I have a 2 year old Compaq presario 5301 and can get it online. I suppose I could buy a new network card, but to me, if is the principal of the thing. Anyone got any ideas?
