xp and media center

I finally got my video problem resolved but had to go back to XP from vista because madden 07 wont run properly on it for some reason, that being said I want to use media center with my xbox 360 and use it as a dvr.

is there a way to get media center besides having media center edition? legit ways only please, not looking to steal anything.

also if I cant use media center are there any other programs that can do the same as media center?

I want to run Vista but no madden means no vista for now.

Not and talk to an xbox360. Not to use it as an Extender, anyway. You can download "Windows Media Connect" and the 360 will be able to get shared music, videos(wmv only, i think) and pics.

There's a bunch of software that can run as a PVR, but I can't think of them right now, I only keep up with Media Center.

Snapstream, Sagetv ... you then have to convert those files to wmv (or save them as wmv) and you can use windows media connect (as Raduque said) to send them. You could also keep vista and just have a small separate partition to boot xp for Madden (if you dont play madden everday I think this would be your best option, if you absolutely need to be able to play without restarting then thats an issue).

You can patch XP Pro to MCE, but no it's not legal.

not interested in "stealing" mce, so what tuners are aout there that are good for directv? or does it not matter? is there a specific item/mode/spec I need to look for to use it with DTV?
