I got 2 machines connected via a switch. Each gets an IP from a DHCP server from my ISP. One is running XP with tcp/ip and file/print sharing activated. The other is running ME with tcp/ip and file/print sharing activated. Each has unique names and a common workgroup name. They can ping each other fine. But they are only seeing themselves in "my network places". I have created a user account on the XP box that I use to log into the ME box with. The ME is set to use client for microsoft network. I uninstalled the zone alarm on each of them cause I thought that was the problem, even though I added the local network IPs on both of them. The only thing I don't have running is the QoS packet scheduler. I didn't think I needed that for this to work out. So my problem is that I can't connect to my shares/printers on either computer. When I goto run and type in \\"computername" it says no network provider accepted the given network path? Can anyone offer any suggestions plz?

Try running XP's "Network Setup Wizard" go to "start" in XP click on "Help and support" search for "Network+wizard" the last selection on the list should be "Steps for creating a home or small office network" follow the steps in the wizard and create a setup disk for client machines, it might fix it, it helped me some but I am still having trouble with clients accessing drives on the xp machine, I cant click on "C:" and access anything it says access denied, but I can access certain shared folders and the xp machine has full access to the win98 clients, also the win98 machines are able to use the printer attached to the XP machine over the network.
