I have a friend that claims that he has a CAD program that will only run in XP without crashing. I think it is the computer that has 2000 PRO doesn't have enough RAM. Are there CAD programs that were written only for XP?

Thanks

While it may be possible (i.e. the developer uses APIs that dont exist in 2000) it's unlikely that CAD software would call upon any of them. The cores of the 2 OSes are very similar and it's quite likely that even if the developer says it needs to be run on XP it could be run on 2000.

What is the software?

I seriously doubt that they would make that program specifically for xp because that would limit there sales to only people and companys with xp.

It would be foolish for a CAD software company to make a product that only runs on XP. I could understand about it not running on Win98, but too many people are still running W2K for it not to be supported.

Thanks for the replies. My friend works for a window company. He said that the software is put out by the window manufacturers for sales people like him to estimate window sizes and jobs. I was assuming that it a CAD type software. When he said that it would work on XP very well, but crashed on 2000 PRO, I wanted to find some answers. I think that the computer with 2000 is underpowered or doesn't have enough memory.

Thanks again
