XP and ATA-100

I have an Abit SE6 motherboard and have just installed XP. Do I need to install the Intel INF update to use ATA-100? Hard drive seems to be struggling, but the Abit site doesn't mention needing to run further drivers. Thanks

Although the Chipset Inf Update is not needed for Windows XP, installing it may be a good idea. I don't think it would make much difference.

In my experience, installing the Intel Application Acceleration drivers is not a good idea, since the Microsoft IDE drivers are faster than the current version of the IAA.

Check that you have DMA enabled. You can find instructions on this in the top thread in this category.
