XP and 98SE network issues

Here is my setup:
(2) 98SE Desktops
(1) XP Home Laptop
(1) 8 port Switch
(1) Netgear Router
Cable Modem

Just got the the laptop and I am trying to get it to "see" the two desktops (and vice versa).
I can ping everyone, but I can't access shared folders or anything. Network neighborhood on 98SE doesn't show the laptop and My Network on XP doesn't show either desktop. I've run the wizards and made sure everyone is named with the same "workgroup" name.
The desktops do see each other (been doing that fine) and the laptop does get an internet connection. I'm a bit perplexed and stumped
😱

Any pointers? I'm probably missing something obvious.
