XP after startup problem, please help !

I have a P4 2.4 Dell and everything starts up as supposed to. I am not able to click on anything on the screen, icons, start menu, quick launch icons, nothing. The mouse moves, it's not frozen.
It WILL work after I Ctrl-alt-delet and open and close the task manager. Everything works fine after that.
I have symantec antivirus and update everyday, I just tried 2 spyware programs, adaware and webroot spysweeper, updated them and ran them, they found a bunch of junk, I deleted the junk/spyware, and my problem still comes up.
Anyone know of ANYTHING?????
 
Since you removed the spyware and im assuming you have up to date antivirus get a utilities program such as system mechanic there are others out there now that u removed the virsus and spyware you need to fix the problems it casue
