XP access denied

memo

So I install a new copy of XP, pulling an old 40 giger to put in an 80. I have 2 secondary drives both 30 GB. (Drive D and Drive E) I want to transfer Drive E to the 80. The 30 GB drives were fine and completely readable/writable with the old windows install, with the new one, Drive D is completely readable but not Drive E. Only 1 folder out of about 15 folders in the main E:\ folder are readable, the rest say access denied. I've tried fiddling with shares and securities but to no avail. Any suggestions?

If they are password protected folders, just back them up. Un-back up them ignoring security/user blah blah blah or whatever. Thats how I gained access to all my folders on my other PC.

i ended up having to take ownership back from them. They kept the same security profiles from the previous install
