XP-90 vs Artic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro for e4300 Overclock

I need some advice. Without thinking it through, I bought a pair of Artic Cooler Freezer 7 Pros for $28/each from NewEgg to run a pair of e4300s and while I know the heatsinks are good, I didn't realize that they made a s775 adapter for my old XP-90.

I only plan to overlock one of the CPUs so I'm wondering if the AC Freezer is worth the price difference of $28 versus $5 for the XP-90 adapter. Right now my order with NewEgg is stuck at level 1 (and has been so for a few days) so I can still ammend the order if need be.

Also if the AC is not worth it, what do you recommend for a good budget heatsink for the 2nd CPU.

I bought the AC because it normally sells for $50 for 1 and $28/each for 2. I don't mind spending the money but I got to thinking and I'm beginning to regret spending $28 for a cooler that I can only use on a s775 platform.

So any advice would be appreciated.

Freezer 7 Pro does not normally sell for $50 each. They have always been ~$20. I got mine for $22 CAD.

Well, it is selling for $50 @ NewEgg - Link. However if you buy two, it's $28.

I agree, $50 is an outrageous price for it, but since I need two and compared to the other $30 coolers, I felt that the AC was a good buy.

Anyway, where can I get it for $20?

I always liked the benefit of the XP-90 has in that the fan is not only blowing through the fins and heatpipes like the they all do , but is also is blowing directly onto the CPU base and the air is circulated around the base of the CPU and the Caps as well.

One of the key selling points of the Freezer Pro is the low level of noise, not just decent cooling.

I also think part of the benefit of the motherboard cooling for the XP-90 is negated by the Freezer Pro being able to send it's warm air directly out of the case.

Like the VGA coolers ? mine never had a direct connect to the outside the case, do the new ones have that ? That would be a big benefit

Hey All, I justed wanted to update. It looks like I'll be keeping the Arctic Coolers since NewEgg won't ammend my order since they already charged my card--despite having not shipped.

They offered to either cancel the entire order so I can reorder everything how I wanted to or I can return the items for a refund but have to pay return shipping.

Since I will only save $25 if I had bought 2 budget coolers and the 775 adapter for the XP-90, I rather spend an additional $12.50/fan to get better cooling and quieter sound.

Thanks for anyone who commented.

No. The only way that works with CPU cooling is with shrouds. because all motherboards and cases and CPU coolers have different orientations and dimensions, shrouds are mostly a custom fab. But this cooler like most tower coolers is oriented so that it blows air directly at the rear exhaust fan of the case. The XP-90 and stock HSF among others blows air either down towards the board or up towards the side wall of the case where the heat then circulates back through the case.

Try sunbeam tower cooler silent whisper for only 18 bucks. It looks and works just like Arctic Cool. There's also another one made by Rosewill that's about $25. These towers are good...
