It is real easy to install.

You do need a backplate on your motherboard and the mobo removed from the case. Unscrew and remove the incuded plastic bracket from the mobo and simply install the one from the XP-90. Practice fitting the heatsink on the clips before you install the cpu. Be sure the base of the XP-90 isn't overhanging the higher support where the cpu goes. That way you know which way the heatsink goes on. If installed the wrong way and the base isn't flush with the cpu, you risk burning out your cpu.

Clean the cpu core and heatsink base with alcohol and a lint free cloth or napkin.

Spread thermal compound on the cpu core. Seran wrap or those cheapy disposable 100 pak plastic gloves dollar tree sells is fine also. Put a dab of compound on the core then spread it evenly as possible all over the core using the seran wrap or plastic glove being careful not to get it elsewhere.

Spread more compound on the heatsink base then wipe off.

Line up the heatsink over the cpu. Lay it flat and using a small flathead screwdriver, move one clip over the socket. Then the other 3. Being sure the heatsink is even. You may have to gently hold the heatsink with one hand while doing this.

Move the heatsink gently/slightly back and forth to be sure the compound is even.

Attach the fan of your choice using the clips. And of course be sure it is plugged in.

It is much easier than it sounds, or looks like. ;)

Great and very lite heatsink. The panaflo 48cfm fan thermalrights suggests works very well. And it is real quiet. No buzzing or high-pitched sound.

Good luck! :)
