XP-90 install question

The ceramique instructions say to rub some onto the heatsink base and wipe off excess, then apply small mound (1 1/2 grains rice) to center of cpu and attach heatsink. The heatsink instructions said to apply thin layer to both, but that comes with it's own thermal compound.

Has anyone tried both ways? Just wondering if you reall get good coverage with the 'small mound' method.

Thanks,
BGC

It doesn't matter either way, as long as you get good contact between the heatsink and your CPU. To check this, remove the heatsink after you have mounted it to see if you have good contact . . . then clean it and reapply it in the same way.

Also I suggest you get yourself some Arctic Silver 5 . . .
