Yes it is. Since the area for mounting usually accomodates only a 70mm fan, the XP-90 will have some hanging over into memory but it should not prevent installation.

Ok it can mount both ways. It can have the fins hanging over the memory slots or it can also mount the other way. I read in another thread that I should not have the base of the heatsink going over the area where the CPU lays. So it's basically hanging around/over the passive northbridge heatsink. Is this correct?

Mount it so that some air blows onto the memory (heatpipes should be exposed on the NB side for most mobos).

This is the way i have my xp-120 oriented, works great to actively cool at least one DIMM slot. Im currently running my ram @ 250 instead of the 200 default.
