I have an Epox 8RDA+ and a 3200+. I can't get the 3200 to run at 3200. It autorecognizes as a 2500+ and if I try and jack up the multiplier it says come crap about overclocking and sets the speed to 1100.

I've tried a bios update, didn't help.

thanks

That's really odd, should be a 3200+. I'm not sure... maybe the 8RDA+ is detecting the wrong speed, but its actually running at 3200+ speeds? What does Windows/Sandra say?

Yeah, 3200 is 200mHz FSB, so it's *unlikely* to run at 200 FSB. You may have to run it at 166 x 13.5 or something along those lines.

Are you sure that this isn't a remarked chip? And you may need to change the bios setting to not halt at any errors.

It's more of a m/b problem that a chip problem.. it's quite rare to find a remarked chip these days anyway..

More often than not, you've got yourself an older version of the m/b..which has the A2/A3 northbridge instead of the newer A1/C1 northbridge.. you might need to do a vdd mod for it to run at 200mhz

good luck !

The xp3200+ (as others have said) is a 200FSB chip. The newer revisions of the 8rda+ support this feature--in fact on boot up the bios will declare that the NFORCE Ultra400 or something like that is supported and thats a sign of a new board (this is only when running at 200fsb I believe). Likely the motherboard didn't properly recognize the chip and you have to do it manually. The chip is "2.2GHz (AMD Barton 3200+)". In order to achieve 2.2GHZ you will need to set the multiplier to 11 and the FSB to 200MHZ. (200 x 11=2200). It should then properly recognize it as a 3200+ and declare this at the bios boot-up. However it may not be stable at this FSB speed due to an older revision of the mobo.

A BIOS update to 3-5-03 will show if you have the newer revision. The FSB does not have to be set @ 200 for it to display "Ultra 400 Support". I have had mine @ 170 and 166 and it says it every boot.
