XP 3200 Overclocking

I have an XP 3200 that seems to overclock quite well. The multiplier is unlocked and I can get it to run stable at 2.5 ghz. I have tried any higher but imagine it would work. How hot should this be running and can anyone give me any advice?

Thanks

Robert

I like to keep mine at 60c or less under load. Although spec's say it can take 80c (IIRC), I worry about possible stability issue above 60c.

How hot should be running? Hard to say, depends on the HS+F used, case temps, ambient temps and vcore.

Also some mobo's read from the socket (ex. NF7) others read cpu temps from a diode. Temps read from the socket will look lower than those read from a diode

I'd say you're fine. I understand that diode temps are reported about 5-10c hotter than socket temps. If correct, your 60c would be about 50-55c on my system.

Looks good, but you might want to just quickly review the cooling of your system, such as case fans, etc, to make sure everything's clean and running at it's best (preferably cut out any stamped grills) just to make sure it'll always be on the safer side of 60.

So as long as im not going way above 60 Im ok? Any recommendations on how get the cpu to run cooler so I can up the speed a bit.

Post your budget and somebody will know. The ones I have (Vantec Aeroflow and SLK 947U) work really well, but I don't think they are made/sold anymore. I got each for about $25. Both had really slick finishes on.

well i cant find the box. It was a cheap pos. Price range is basically whatever offers the best value. Any recommendations?

This guy only managed to get his upto 2500Mhz and run stable.

I was wondering, did you have to unlock the multiplier. I have a Barton 3000+ and have been told i'm unable to unlock the multiplier, i was under the impression it was the same with the 3200+ as long as the chip is post week 39 of 2003.
