XP 3000+ multiplier locked

I had an XP 2400+ for which I changed the multiplier at will. I installed an XP 3000+, and no matter how many times I try, the multiplier seems to be locked?

All of the desktop Bartons (3000+ included) come factory locked from AMD. You need to go with the mobile versions if you want to get a new chip that's unlocked.

D'oh. I guess its off to FS/T. How high of a bus speed is reasonable to expect?

or unless you can come by a week 38 or earlier barton
