XP 2800 Barton OC inquiry

i just got this chip a few days ago and decided to mess with oc'ing tonight. this is my first venture in to overclocking, so i'm slightly weary. ive moved the core voltage incrimentally up to 1.8v so far, and i would push it but im concerned about frying this sucker. i've also moved the system clock to 188, at 12.5 multiplier, for a not-so-grand total of 2350 mhz (2083 original, for reference). my current temperature is only 45c (idle), and i'm wondering if i could consider that safe to up the voltage a little more and try to squeeze out a few more mhz via the system clock.

all input is much appreciated!

That's a bit high for an idle temperature. You might try either a case fan additon, or a better fan or heatsink on the CPU. Try to stay under 50 - 55 C under full load and all will be well. I have run Bartons as high as 1.95 volts (actual) for months on end without any signs of distress. I have run an XP-2400 M at 2.1 volts (actual) for days on end without seeing any issues for the abuse.

It's all about the temperatures.............

yeah i thought 45 was getting a little high since i had seen around 40 as an average. i only have a single switch controlled fan cooling the cpu right now, though, so its a pretty basic setup. i'm happy i managed to do as much with it.
