let's see. i've got an a7n8x-dlx motherboard running an xp2200+ and i'm using a volcano 7 hsf. now according to the bios i'm running at 58C... idling and the hsf running at 4000 rpms. i'm not a genius or anything but that's a little warm. i've tried changing the amount of artic silver and that didn't change anything either. so is it safe to assume i need a better hsf?

Doesn't that model have the adjustable fan or is it just the non+ version? If you can adjust it, turn the fan all the way up. Anyway, the volcano 7 isn't a very good heatsink... get a thermalright (sk-7 or better model, it's cheap for $20 at svc.com)
