you should look into more details such as 0.13 micron or 0.18
0.13=tbred
0.18=palomino
 
I believe the 2100+ retail my friend received today was a Palomino =(

... which is a damned shame because he spent an extra forty bucks or so just to make sure he got a motherboard that could do the Thoroughbred mult. unlocking trick.

Maybe the OEMs are more likely to be Thoroughbred because OEM moves quicker than retail, newer stock available...

As for the 1800+ Newegg says on their site "1800+ Thoroughbred" so you can be assured that it is one.
 
I just got a 1800+ today only because it is a ThoroughBred.
When I went to the store today, I picked up a 2100+ but when I looked at the cpu itself I noticed it wasn't a thoroughbred.
So I decided to get a 1800+ instead. The code was AXDA on the cpu itself. So I assured myself it was a tbred.

When I brought it home, I was amazed.
The multiplier WAS unlocked. Right now im running at 166fsb x 10.5. Works like a charm. Only bad part is that my motherboard only support a voltage as high as 1.75v in the bios. Kinda weird. As my Palomino was able to volt up to 1.85v. I'm using a Abit AT7 btw. =(

So far, It's damn fast, compared to my previous Duron 650@870mhz.

The unlocking kit I bought 2 months ago proved useless, as this one is factory unlocked by default ^_^
