I just build 3 asus mb systems. 2 for friends and 1 for me. For the 2 friends' system I installed a tbred 1700+ with Thermaltake 6 hsf. For my system I used a Palomino XP 2100+ and I used both an Alpha Pal 8045 and Thermalright SLK-800 hsf units. With my Palomino cpu I am getting temps higher than the tbred 1700 ones with those cheapo Ttake 6's. (I need to mention that I used AS3 on my hsf units vs the thermad pad that came with the Ttake units). I do know that tbreds are cooler than the palominos...

So after all this rambling, is the Palomino XP 2100+ just a very hot cpu or are those tbred 1700's just very cool ;) ?

You may have mounted the processor incorrectly. What temps are you getting exactly?

No, no. I think my message was misleading.. I am not getting very hot temps with the Palomino, just hotter with good heatsinks (Alpha Pal 8045, Thermalright SLK-800) than the tbred 1700 with a Ttake 6. Temps are at 35 degrees C idle.
