my xp 2000+ is at 55 degrees celsius - according to the BIOS - and is defaulted at 1.808 v, isn't this too hot?? according to MBM my cpu's temperature is at 73C degrees, however this never changes so i am very positive that this is wrong. also, how can i drop this temperature because last night i felt my heatsinc and it was very hot. any suggestions?? or is this a normal temp according to the 2000+ series??

I run a Palomino XP +2000 on an MSI board and according to my BIOS and AIDA32 my idle temp is 39-42 °C and full load is 46-50°C depending on room temperature. I use stock HS and fan but I got 3 case fans (on intake, on above CPU to give fresh air and one exhaust).

My CPU Volts are 1.7 to 1.75.

If your temp readings are correct then I guess u have a prob indeed.

PS: Give AIDA32 a try. MBM and speedfan always gave me strange results like my CPU Volts are 6,5 (=instant death) or my fan spinning at 15.000 rpm (no, it's not a chopper inside my case) :D

PPS: Before I installed the extra case fans my temp was also around the 55 °C. So if that reading is normal, then u're on the "safe" side. If in doubt I go for the BIOS readings ... I mean they build that darn thing, didn't they? ;)
