Hi xs8r.
I had the ASUS AV7266-E and got my ABIT KR7A last night. Now quess which Board just got torn out of my COMPI, and which is going to stay in it.???
YEP, your right. It´s The ABIT thats staying in my SYSTEM. I have had alot of ASUS Boards and also ABIT BOARDS, and have always went back to ABIT. They are and always will be the best Boards. So go and get yourself the ABIT BOARD.
I live in Germany and this is the best BOARD you can get here, although it was hard to get this BOARD because it is so new.
Hope I could help, and have fun with your new ABIT BOARD.

There are reports of problems install the new abit board with WinXP becuase of RAID drivers..you will need to upgrade to the 6G bios..Ithink that is it and then install WinXP

Checkout this thread....KR7A-RAID and WinXP

Well, last time I checked Asus was a Tier1 manufacturer and Abit was a Tier2. Tiering is a quantitative/qualitatiave measurement that comes out of a due diligence process many companies conduct before they work with a manufacturer. FYI Tier1 is better... it's based on actual manufacturing numbers, quality of the line etc.

I've had several boards, currently have the A7V266E RAID and no problems whatsoever. Performance is in the upper 1/3 of the KT266A lot... more than happy with the performance.

The difference between most of these boards would go unnoticed by 99.99% of the people out there. Just figure out what you want and go from there. If you don't need the RAID, don't get a RAID version of either board. They do make non-RAID versions as well.

If you read the Asus A7V266E Review at www.HardOCP.com, You'll find Asus is FASTER then the Abit KR7A-raid in every test. But, if you read through the news section at www.overclockers.com You'll find Asus is having a MAJOR problem with their temp sensor.....
