I just popped my chip in without a problem but the heatsink has me stuck. The instructions say to remove a tape from it but I don't see a tape just a tan color. The fan have a small plastic cover over the underneath part of the fan. So am I correct in assuming that there is no tape and that I should slap that fan in there. Thanx!
 
Sometimes there isnt tape covering the thermal material. In your case it was just a plastic shield. Just slap the HSF on there and it all should be fine. Just dont mount it wrong.
