XP 1800+ "Palomino"-----HS/F Quetions

I purchased an inexpensive 1800+ for $15 here at AT. It came AS-IS because the seller was unsure of the CPUs' condition.

HS/F--Question: Does the HS/F have to have a Copper Base ???

I was Given (Free) a CPU HS/F from a Friend. It doesn't have a Copper Base, but I do not want to buy an HS/F for the 1800+ being i don't even know if the CPU is good or not.

The HS/F doesn't have a 'Manufacturer' listed anyware, on the HS/F itself or on the box. All it says on the Box is: CPU Cooler--ISO 9001 Certified w/ a Number on a 'Sticker'--CFA80S4. Is there someway to find out if this HS/F will sufficiently cool the 1800+ ???

4-Pads: The 4-Pads (little-black) on the CPU are damaged (chunks missing). Do I need to replace those ???

A Friend gave me a 'Fried' Duron 1800 that of which the 4-Pads are in Great Shape. Can I transfer those Pads onto the 1800+ ???

Do I use a Razor Blade to transfer the Pads ???

What particular Glue should i use to glue the Pads onto the 1800+ ???

Thanks

It might be a good idea to replace the pads, but not necessary if they are mostly intact. They are mostly there to help the heatsink sit on the core in a level manner, especially during heatsink install.

Copper base heatsinks were only necessary for Bartons, perhaps for the higher speed Thoroughbreds, but not for Paliminos.

Thanks. I would consider it necessary then, because the Pads are 'mostly' missing.

I can just use a Razor Blade to transfer the Pads from the Duron can't I ???

To Glue the Duron-pads to the 1800+, What kind of Glue should I use ???

What kind of Glue should I use to Glue the Above mentioned 'Pads' to the XP 1800+ ???

Thanks

Two Posts Back-to-Back isn't considered Double-Posting is it ??? (Like this & the one above)

Shouldn't matter much as long as it sticks. Not sure if Model glue would be good as it tends to melt plastic, but basic white glue or rubber glue should be fine.
