Sorry to everyone without access to this deal...

The Houston Fry's is selling a combo XP 1700 processor with the K7S5A for $159 this week. I checked, and outpost is not matching this. Are other Fry's locations offering this?

My luck is such that I purchased the exact items from Newegg Friday morning, and then went out of town. By the time I saw Sunday's ad in the paper, newegg had already shipped. This is the one time I resent their great service! I hope someone can get in on this.

<Edit> The PLU for this combo is 3229301

Hmmm, I just bought the 1700xp retail + Case+ PSU+ MOBO for 199(225aftertax).

Should I return it and wait for a better deal to come along??? Then again, look at what happend to memory, you used to get it free after rebates.

Fornax - I don't have the ad with me, but I'll add the PLU later this evening.

Junthin - Sorry I didn't include this in the original post - this is an OEM processor (no HSF, only 1 yr warranty)

Thanks for the clarfication. ;) I was debating if it was worth it for me to drive all the way down there for the combo. ;) Looks like the Outpost deal with the Soyo barebone is a better deal right now. (Barebone system with Retail XP 1700 chip. ;) )

austin has the 1700 with the Shuttle AK31A mobo for $169.

Fry's will pricematch to stores in the same region right? Does anyone know what it takes to pricematch? Just the PLU number, or do you need a copy of the ad? and do you know if the last day is tomorrow? (in the austin ad's the deal is always over on tuesday)

I'm thinking about trying to get them to pricematch.
The ECS board would be better so I could just use my PC133 ram right now and not have to buy expensive ass ram.
