is that good/normal?? Thats under SETI load.....just sitting there(i don't let it do it that often) it's about 35 deg(C)

It's ok... what's your motherboard temp and ambient temp in room? My processor runs about the same as yours with the mobo at 34 degrees and the room temp at like 81 F..

I would say that is a good to very good temp under a load.
But then again, I don't know spit. lol
From what I have read here on the forums, that is good cooling.

in case temp registers as about 28(C), um, not sure what ambient temp is though, the thermistat is around the corner, and i'm to lazy to go look, probably around 70(F)

Well i am jealous! :)

my 1700 idles at 52-54 C
& case at 38-40 C

this is after i got my XP chip & had to improve on my mini case etc etc that my t-bird ran in.

now got a full case, 80x80 fan in front & back. a Tornado CPU heatsink with 80x80 fan.

and under load...... u dont wanna know ! lol

Seems to be good.

With ambient case temps at 28 and your XP at 40.....

I have a TB 1400 that probably tends to run hotter than the XP 1700+ and current temps are 23 ambient, 27 case, and 43 on the CPU.

Sad part is I'm still struggling with airflow....I can pull the front cover off and case temps drop within 1 deg of ambient and the cpu drops to about 39.
