XP-120, XP-90C, XP-90, 7700Cu? What's the best?

Which one of the above will cool the best overall without sacrificing quietness.

If I go for XP-90 or XP-90C I'll be using medium Panaflos (92mm)
If it's the XP-120, Thermaltake Thunderblade.

I laughed at first when I saw quietness, and thermaltake.
21dBA at 78CFM not bad
A 80mm thermaltake I had sounded like a damn jet.

I made a switch from zalman 7000A ALCU to the XP120, and have had a huge change in temp. I love my XP120, but have not tried the 7700C series.

that's my .02

All of the Xp series are good choices, i prefer the XP-90 the best. I think they cool better then the Zalman due to the heatpipes. My XP-90 keeps my 3.2E oc'd to 3.8 at 38 idle and 47 under full load.

Dont ruin a good HS with a Tt fan. Get a Nexus, or Yate Loon or something other than Tt. I will GARAUNTEE you that those aformentioned specs are WAY off.

Additionally Phase Change cooling is not quiet at all. Water Cooling is probably the quietest. Then, depending on setups and speed control, the XP120 and the Zalman are at it.

XP-120. Cools very well and doesn't take up as much space as 7700Cu. Add a Panaflo 120mm Medium and you're set.

running a xp-90 with a Pana 90mm fan @ 1200rpm...idle is 35 and load hits 43 with a 3200+ @ 2.4 using the new beta Everest for stats.

I replaced my 7200cu due to weight and size, but it did run slightly hotter then my xp-90.

either XP-90 or XP-120.. the 90C is completely useless.... it offers no additional cooling at like 5x the weight.. the regular XP-90 is very light and does an exceptional job.

Whatever you get, make sure it's not a friggin copper block... it's not effective enough considering the weight. I recommend the XP-90.. I have one with a lowly Vantec Stealth and it is very quiet and performs exceptionally well.

Good comparison article and reviews of each heatsink at SilentPCReview.

Picked up the XP-90 retail (includes 92 mm fan and thermal compound) at Jab-Tech a few days ago for $29.95, price now at $31.95.
XP-90

If your moving a system around every couple of weeks (for LAN party's), how do these HSF's compare to the stock cooler on A64's? I know alot of them are huge and stick way-out from the MoBo, and this would be bad for a computer thats getting moved around. But the XP-90 seems fairly light (less that the stock cooler?), and doesn't seem to stick out too far.

Just wondering...

Both the XP-90 and 120 are good choices the XP 120 only weights 10g more than the XP-90 you don't really have to worry about weight so much when moving around PC's w/ the xp 90 or 120 as they fit w/in AMD's weight guide lines. The stock cooler is smaller, lighter and louder than any of the other HSF's listed, although you can make some of these louder depending on the Fan you use.

Well Panaflo is like 68.5 CFM for 25 dBA? This is the 120mm low speed.

If a Thermaltake does 21 dBA with 78 CFM then I'm impressed =)

Or you could get a 200 CFM Delta =)

So why is it that people say the xp90c is useless? On overclockers.com heatsink roundup it outperforms the xp90. I was just wondering because I had the choice between the xp90c and the xp90 last week and I took you xp90c because with the coupon code at SVC it was only more thna the xp90, now they have the xp90 even cheaper though...but I was wondering why it was said in this thread that the xp90c is useless, making sure the reasons won't effect me any...
thanks

because the copper version is about twice the weight, is only about 2-4 degrees C difference, and about $10-20 more. If you already have a xp-90, it is not a worthy to change but if you don't have one and found discount on the copper, by all means, get copper.

The XP120 is in my opinion the best air cooling solution out there.

And on a side note build quality of ThermalRight's stuff is second to none...Swiftech and ThermalRight's attention to detail, quality and over all finish are hard to beat.

XP-90C isn't useless. It's just heavy (compared to the XP-90) and expensive. But if you can get it for the same price, and you dont mind the extra weight (only a problem if you move your case around alot) then it does do a little better than the XP-90.
