XP-90, artic freezer 64 pro (height is more but width is less), zalman CNPS 9500... the xp-120 and 7700 are massive, but the xp-120 cools much better with a panaflo fan. heard the zalmans cools just a bit better then stock but not much (save for the 9500). the xp-120 or xp-90 however will cool alot better.

Scythe Ninja is much heavier (and more expensive) than the Thermalright's and with the XP-90 running at ~$25, I find it much more attractive...

svc.com just started a sale on the xp-90 as well. Its $24 before shipping. The scyth ninja new is about $10 more, not that big of a deal but ya its significantly heavier.

scythe ninja seems to be the best one out there. Scythe actually has some pretty good products that people dont know too much about besides the ninja. Pertaining to your original question, the xp90 is a great cooler, if svc has it for 25 bucks, then you cant really beat that in terms of performance and price. If you want better peformance but something thats not too heavy, then the si-120 or xp120 is good too. If you decide to go for zalman, the 9500 is actually lighter than the 7700cu and performs better too.

Ninja is the best with a good fan.
9500 is next and the best looking (IMO)
7700 and SP-120 are about the same. SP-120 is quieter with a good fan.
XP-90 is next.
7000 is at the bottom of the list. Good cooler for its time, pretty much overpowered by everything else now.

Scythe Ninja is the best cooler. But maybe the SHOGUN? Definitely though the XP 120 is better than the 7700.

Sorry it took so long to post on this thread...
I am setting up a blog.

Anyways people always throw around the words what is the BEST......
Is this the BEST......
I want to buy the BEST.....

When it comes to what I label as aftermarket heatsinks.....
You have a half doaen or so cream of the crop heatsinks....
The Ninja.....Zalman 9500.......Big Typhoon.....XP 90 copper...XP 120...SI120....AC 64 Pro....And afew more that I would put on my second teir....

If you go back a read people posts about any of these heatsinks good or bad you will find people posting concerning almost every one of these supposed BEST heatsink...I bought the Ninja and my temps are still high...
I bought the Big typhoon and my temps are still high....
I bought the AC 64 pro and my temps are still high....
The above applies for almost all heatdinks......
So you ask what gives? Is there actually a BEST heatsink?

The answer is plain and simply put---- NONONONONONO!!!!
Why you might ask?
You also might say to me...well I read such and such review they gave such and such heatsink very high marks....I say -- doesn`t matter....
Your computers set up is completely different from anyone elses. Even somebody who has the same exact components.
There are so many variables when it comes to actually cooling a computer..from fan speed....to ambient temperatur outside the case...to what the actual temperature is in the case....to how much heat does my video card produce as well as my harddrives and memory.....

What I can tell you is...
In my systems.......Both ther XP120 and the Zalman 9500 are almost identical in temp in both my riggs...the AMD rigg and the Intel rigg!!

Yet I know people who swear bt the Big typhoon.......the Ninja and the AC 64 pro....

IMO...its really a crap shoot.....you might have to get several heatsinks before you find one that works for your particular set of circumstances...

Yes there are mathematical formulas to determine how well a heatsink should cool...but I ask you....if there were not other variables then those formulas would hold true in every computer ever set up.....

I have 4 different heatsink...
The zalman 9500 is the best looking hand down!!

Yet the XP120 and the XP90 copper and the Ninja are all within 1c - 2c of each other...thus the word negligiable variance between the 4.....in my particular system.
Understand the BEST accross the board....really does not exist!!

But it sure is fun using mad money to get these heatsinks and use them!!

Have fun!!

I'd say the SI-120, approximately the same performance as an XP-120 but it's compatible with all motherboards (well, nearly all ^^).

I've never had a hard time returning something with Mwave, NewEgg or Performance PCs. Haven't had to do returns with anyone else really.

I have a XP-120 witha 86cfm Panaflo in a Lian-Li PC-60A Plus. My Sandy 3700+ is overclocked to 2.8Ghz and I idle at 33C.

The XP-120 is a chore to mount, but once installed, it is hard to beat.

The Ninja is not suitable for AMD 64 systems, at least not if you intend to use a 120mm fan with it. I have a SI-120 and am extremely happy with it after having both a Ninja and a Venus 12.
