Hello, I have a slight situation here. I am aiming to overclock my E2180 cpu once it arrives, and from what I have been reading, it is compatible with the XP-120 Heatsink. I have the XP120 from my A64 system [obviously].

Now heres my question...I know the XP was the 'shit' back in the A64 single core days, and it still seems decent today...But is it better than the retail HSF that comes with a Core 2 duo ? I imagine that the improving technology in Heatsinks since then, and better 'stock' heatsinks might make the stock one better. Does anyone know ?

Right now I have the XP 120 paired with a 120mm fan.

I would have to say that most aftermarket HSF is better than the Intel stock HSF, especially if you over clock. :)

The XP-120 will beat the snot out of the stock Intel hsf (linkage).

But you will probably need a mounting kit to make it work on the motherboard.

I have the XP-90 on the E2180 and there is no question that it is far superior to the stock HSF. For sure go with your XP-120, even if it means buying an adapter to fit the socket, the improvement in cooling will be well worth the cost.
